Slow Fashion

My creations in fashion, hopefully enduring for as long as possible.

Borders 2023

The colourful, rectangular tile borders of Casa de Pilatos in Seville (famous for its azulejo tiles) are the core inspirations for Borders, my self-designed sweater for him. The weave pattern adds texture to the piece, and the silk content of Tibetan DK from Martin’s Lab lends a shine to the sweater, recalling the glaze of the tile borders.

Les Étoiles 2024

Les Étoiles, my self-designed sweater, is knitted with positive ease, a longer body length, and a wider shoulder width (designed to accommodate shoulder pads). Complemented by distinctive diagonal stripes, Les Étoiles evokes the bold and powerful fashion style of the 1980s. Splashes of colourful thread waste, artfully blended into the partly recycled black wool Tweedy Noir by Hedgehog Fibres, inject a touch of funkiness to the piece. I can just imagine myself wearing it to a disco!

Les Étoiles II 2024

Les Étoiles II is the cardigan version of Les Étoiles. Tiny, round yellow buttons are sewn onto the cardigan, as if they are the twinkling stars (les étoiles) in the sky!

Duet 2023

Inspired by the harmonious interplay of blue and white, Duet is constructed through the rhythmic interaction of these two colours.

Knitted with one of my favourite organic yarns, Økologisk Sommeruld (a blend of 70% wool and 30% cotton) from CaMaRose, Duet features mid-length sleeves and a subtle side slit, making it perfect for both spring and autumn wear.

Lilac Charm Brooch 2023

Made with love, for my dearest mother.

Reis Sweater 2021

Knitting this Reis sweater by Stephen West, I wasn’t overly concerned with the next colour choice, which made the unfolding outcome surprisingly exciting (and nerve-wracking!) as it neared completion. Though designed for him, the pattern itself is gender-neutral. I crafted this sweater using Comfy, Tibetan, and Tyrrell DKs from Martin’s Lab, alongside Drury DK from Townhouse Yarns.

Snowy Forest 2021

Such a joy knitting this sweater! The pattern is very well written, and the lilac colour has truly captured my heart 💜💜💜
Pattern: Snowy Forest by Midori Hirose, from Issue 10 of Laine Magazine
Yarn: Thistle, Big Merino DK and Kid Mohair Silk from Qing Fibre

Art Deco Sweater 2020

The pattern for this Art Deco sweater is from Jemima Bicknell’s book, Art Deco Knits: Creating a Hand-knit Wardrobe Inspired by the 1920s – 1930s. For this project, I chose Økologisk Sommeruld from CaMaRose, a lovely summer yarn spun with organic wool and cotton fibers.

Cushy Tushy 2023

My pair of Cushy Tushy pants, knitted with Irish Yarn Vibes Organic Yarn and Studio Donegal’s Irish Heather Yarn, are very welcome for keeping me warm in cold weather.

Decorative Lace Collar 2021

Instead of a wool based yarn, I knitted this elegant lace collar with 100% linen yarn from Växbo Lin in Sweden, so that it can be worn in hot and humid weather. This pattern comes from one of my favourite knitting books, Japanese Knitting Stitch Bible: 260 Exquisite Patterns by Hitomi Shida. The little pearl button was salvaged from my old sweater—a perfect match indeed.

Rising Dawn 2021

Several rows a day, and here is my Rising Dawn, my first ever knitted semi-circular shawl. The Pattern is designed by Stephen West, and my yarn choice is Field, hand dyed singles from the Irish mill Olann. The yarn has a very unique colour indeed.

Chevron Headband 2025

Giving a twist to Woolly Wormhead’s Chevron Beanie, I knitted him a headband with Confetti, a recycled yarn from La Bien Aimée. It’s the perfect accessory for him to go skiing!

Rhinebeck Hat 2019

I’m truly a fan of Woolly Wormhead. Her creations are amazing, and this Rhinebeck Hat pattern is definitely one of my favourites. The hand-dyed double-knit Irish yarns are Drury DK from Townhouse Yarns, bought at This Is Knit in Dublin.

Beanie Bopper 2020

This age- and gender-neutral pattern, Beanie Bopper by Woolly Wormhead, is highly recommended for anyone looking for a quick and easy knitting project. I knitted it with big merino chunky yarn hand-dyed by Qing Fibre in the U.K.

The Pearl Bonnet 2022

This is a white bonnet that I knitted for the adorable new born in our family. I knitted it with Rico Design Essentials Merino DK using the pattern Perlerogperlerkyse, created by Ina Kolstrøm.

Little Boots 2020

This cute and lovely design from prjaga.ru captures my heart; it’s the perfect pattern for me to knit a pair of baby booties for a newborn of a friend of mine, and the clear instructions simply facilitate my knitting. My choice of yarn is the hand-dyed variegated Irish Drury DK from Townhouse Yarns, bought in This Is Knit in Dublin, which comprises 80% superwash merino, 10% cashmere, and 10% nylon.

Denim Blossom Brooch/ Hair Accessory 2019

My mother used to teach me how to make three-dimensional paper flowers when I was a kid. Years later, I came across a wonderful book, Pure Feel. Felt Cloth Design Creation (純淨手感.毛氈布設計創作集), which showcased how to make the same flower but with felt. I decided to make one with recycled denim fabric from my old and torn pair of jeans, adding colourful DMC cotton threads in running stitches to make the denim flower more vivid, a detail that contrasts with the frayed edges reflecting the decaying nature of flowers.
